Narathiwat is another southern most province of Thailand bordering on
the Malaysian territory especially at Amphoe Sungai Ko-Lok which is an
important junction where the Thai southern railroad ends and connected
by another railway communication through the border to Tumpad Station
in Malaysia. Narathiwat is the province having beautiful natural sceneries
of both the forests and the seaside resorts which are places of interest,
being the land of gold mine located some 1,149 kms. south of Bangkok.
The Nam Tok Bacho waterfall is located in the area of Amphoe Bacho at
km. 73 of Pattani-Narathiwat Highway where there is an access road branching
off on the right hand side with a short distance to Nam Tok Bacho Forest
Park. The waterfall cascades from a very high cliff having a strong current,
then, turned into a pleasant flowing stream through the forestry area.
This is really one of the most beautiful waterfalls of the South Hat Narathat
Bang Nara Fishery Village The scene of this area is of high coconut
groves lined behind the beach. Households of the fishermen in this village
are scattered dotted under the shady coconut groves and a vast number
of fishing boats of all sizes can be seen in the bay. Phra Buddha Thaksin
Ming Mongkon This huge Sitting Buddha image was constructed on top of
Khao Kong Hill, Tambon Lamphu, Amphoe Muang. The whole area occupies a
space of 142 rai having three levelled hilly landscape. The width of the
lap of this Buddha image is 15 meters and the height from the base to
the top of the finial is 24 meters decorated with gold-coloured mosaic
tiles having Buddhistic beauty in compliance with the southern culture.
The Siri Maha Maya Pagoda is in the area of Khao Kong Buddhistic Park,
having the bell shape, hollow inside, and the township area on the road
to Tak Bai, being the royal residence when H.M. the King and his royal
family makes an annual visit to the South.
